Every Californian Deserves Quality Parks

Every Californian Deserves Quality Parks

It's a critical time for California parks

The State Parks system is failing to meet the needs of a more diverse and urban population, prompting discussion about reform. At the local level, many communities lack access to parks and recreational opportunities. Residents are frustrated that their needs are not met and their voices not heard.

We can do better

With critical decisions looming about the future of California’s parks, our coalition of civic leaders will ensure that local communities and diverse interests have a voice.

Californians deserve:

  • Parks that meet the needs of an increasingly urban, diverse, and young California
  • Parks that are safe, well-kept, and readily accessible to our communities
  • A parks workforce and leadership that reflects California’s diverse communities and listens to the needs of the public

Who is Parks Now?

Who is Parks Now?

Parks Now is a broad coalition of experts, activists, and community leaders from across California who are concerned about the state of our public parks. Our mission is to encourage elected leaders throughout the state to finally take meaningful action towards improving the parks system.

Not all of our members are long time parks advocates: many represent communities of color, and others are experts in public health or other relevant fields. However, all of us are united in the belief that our parks can and should do better.
