Reopening Parks for All

Social Media Toolkit

Parks, beaches, and natural areas are essential for our health and wellbeing, a truth highlighted by the current public health crisis. Access to safe, welcoming public lands remains deeply inequitable, especially now when park closures and limitations have unequal costs for communities of color and low-income communities.

As parks, natural areas, and beaches begin to reopen across the state, we urge officials to consider principles and recommendations that ensure equitable access for all Californians. Click below to read the principles and recommendations in their entirety.

Help us ensure park officials #ReopenParksForAll. Below are social media graphics and sample copy you are free to use, tweak and share on your channels. We’ve included graphics sized for Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, which you can access at the link below.

We believe access to nature is essential for our health and wellbeing. COVID-19 is a stark reminder that access to safe, welcoming public lands remains deeply inequitable in many areas, especially with park closures and limitations negatively impacting communities that historically already faced barriers to access. As parks, natural areas, and beaches start to reopen across California, we urge officials to #ReopenParksForAll. We ask park agencies, such as our local [insert local park agency], to consider the linked principles and recommendations to ensure equitable access for everybody. The Parks Now coalition created these suggestions to support the reopening of natural spaces, but we encourage consideration of these principles and recommendations beyond the pandemic, to ensure equitable access is an ongoing priority. http://www.caparksnow.com/reopen-parks

Let’s #ReopenParksForAll! Everyone in California has a right to enjoy our state’s public lands and natural treasures. @CAStateParks, please consider and commit to these recommendations from the Parks Now coalition, to ensure EVERYONE has equitable access to the outdoors. Low-income populations and communities of color have historically faced barriers to enjoying time in nature, a reality only exacerbated by COVID-19 and subsequent park restrictions. As parks reopen across the state, we ask park officials to commit to these recommendations now and beyond the pandemic. Equitable access must be an ongoing priority. http://www.caparksnow.com/reopen-parks
